CHICAGO — An Illinois state court jury has reached a defense verdict in favor of Takeda Pharmaceuticals America Inc., finding the defendant was not liable for failing to adequately warn doctors and patients of an alleged link between its diabetes drug Actos and bladder cancer.
On May 15, the 12-member Cook County Circuit Court jury unanimously found in favor of Takeda on failure-to-warn claims asserted by the widow of a man who took Actos and died from bladder cancer in 2006. Judge Deborah M. Dooling presided over the three-week trial, which began April 21.
