NEW YORK — Odyssey Reinsurance Co. is urging a New York federal judge to appoint an umpire to oversee its dispute with two retrocessionaires, arguing that the selection process has reached an impasse because the retrocessionaires have failed to name qualified candidates.
In its Jan. 24 reply to the retrocessionaires’ opposition to its petition for appointment, Odyssey Re argues that two of the retrocessionaires’ candidates are not officers of a company that writes workers’ compensation business, as required by the parties’ arbitration agreement. The retrocessionaires’ third candidate is not a member of ARIAS, Odyssey Re contends.
