Biomet Removes Texas Case to Federal Court, Says Claims Against In-State Medical Providers Time-Barred

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Biomet Inc. has removed a Texas woman's hip implant suit to federal court on diversity grounds, saying that in-state medical providers were improperly joined because those claims are barred by a two-year limitations period set by the Texas Medical Provider Limitations Act.
In removing the action filed by Maria Andrea Leija to the U.S. District for the Southern District of Texas, Biomet also said that the claims against Leija's medical providers are baseless and unsupported.
