Calif. Court Grants Expedited Trial Sought on Health Grounds by Plaintiff in DePuy ASR Hip Case

SAN FRANCISCO – The judge presiding over California's coordinated DePuy ASR hip cases has granted the expedited trial setting sought by a plaintiff whose attorneys say has terminal non-small cell lung cancer.
A notice to that effect was entered in the DePuy ASR docket in the San Francisco Superior Court Jan. 10 although no written order has yet been filed.
Connecticut resident Gary Darling Darling filed his lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court against DePuy, Johnson & Johnson Inc., Johnson & Johnson Services Inc., and Thomas Schmalzried, M.D. He alleged that an ASR device implanted in his left hip …
