N.Y. Woman Sues Zimmer Over 2003 Trilogy System Hip Implant

BUFFALO, N.Y. – A New York woman has sued Zimmer over a 2003 Trilogy System hip implant, alleging the company's sale of a defective device and its failure to notify recipients or medical providers of a component recall led to a serious infection, revision surgery and months of in-patient care.
Beatrice M. Patrizi filed her action against various Zimmer defendants in Chautuqua County (N.Y.) Supreme Court Nov. 26. Zimmer removed the action to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York Jan. 3, asserting complete diversity between the parties.
