DePuy ASR Judges Appoint Claims Administrator, Special Masters to Oversee $2.5 Billion Settlement

TOLEDO, Ohio — U.S. District Judge David A. Katz has appointed a retired Cleveland judge as claims administrator for the expected resolution of approximately 8,000 DePuy ASR Hip cases.
The Nov. 22 order from Judge Katz, who oversees the cases assigned to the federal MDL in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, also named special masters to facilitate the $2.5 billion settlement agreement reached between a committee of plaintiffs’ attorneys and DePuy Orthopedics and its parent company, Johnson & Johnson.
