MINNEAPOLIS — A federal judge has awarded summary judgment to Zimmer Inc. on claims that the design of its Trilogy Longevity Polyethylene Liner led to fractures and frequent dislocations for one patient.

Judge Patrick J. Schiltz of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota granted Zimmer’s motion for summary judgment on Sept. 25, while also granting in part separate motions to exclude causation testimony offered on behalf of plaintiff Tina Thompson (formerly Muetz).

Thompson filed her action in 2011, seeking compensatory damages and other remedies from Zimmer Inc., Zimmer Holdings Inc., Zimmer Production Inc., Zimmer US Inc. and …
