JPML Transfers 57 Federal Avandia Cases to MDL; Denies Plaintiffs’ Motion to Vacate

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation has denied plaintiffs’ motions to vacate its order conditionally transferring 57 Avandia actions pending against GlaxoSmithKline to the Avandia multidistrict litigation pending in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

The JPML concluded that the actions involve common questions of fact with actions previously transferred to the MDL and that transfer will serve the convenience of the parties and witnesses and promote just and efficient conduct of the litigation.
