NEW YORK — A judge who denied Stryker Corp.’s motion to dismiss a Wichita Fusion Nail recipient’s suit alleging manufacturing and design defects in the knee device has given the plaintiff additional time to amend her complaint to particularize Stryker’s alleged fraud and negligent misrepresentation.

Judge Colleen McMahon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York granted the motion by Elaine Williamson Aug. 5, extending the deadline to Sept. 16 and giving defendants until Oct. 14 to respond.

Counsel for Williamson cited the plaintiff’s recent hospitalization in making the request.
