Tenn. Federal Judge Allows Testimony of Plaintiff’s Causation Expert in Aredia Case

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Tennessee federal judge has allowed a plaintiff’s causation expert to testify in an Aredia case, finding the expert completed an appropriate differential diagnosis to determine which cause was most likely to have caused the plaintiff’s osteonecrosis of the jaw.

Magistrate Judge C. Clifford Shirley Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee concluded that William R. High D.M.D. “is clearly qualified to testify regarding his procedure in treating and diagnosing the plaintiff.”

Sandra Thorn sued Novartis, alleging her Aredia treatment caused her to develop osteonecrosis of the jaw.
