DePuy Asks Calif. Court to Enforce Stays and Quash Offers to Settle Non-Bellwether Cases

SAN FRANCISCO — DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. (NYSE: JNJ) has asked the presiding judge in the coordinated California ASR XL hip implant proceedings to enforce the court’s stay of non-bellwether cases and quash Offers to Compromise made recently by plaintiffs in 78 cases.

DePuy filed its motion to quash June 27 in the San Francisco County Superior Court, citing a provision in Case Management Order No. 8 staying all ASR hip cases for all purposes except certain limited pleadings and the exchange of fact sheets.
