Roche Granted Summary Judgment in Rocephin SJS Case

ATLANTA — After excluding the testimony of the plaintiff’s causation expert, a Georgia federal judge has granted Hoffman-LaRoche Inc. summary judgment on claims that it failed to warn that its antibiotic Rocephin may cause Stevens-Johnson Syndrome.
On June 6, Chief Judge Julie E. Carnes of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia ruled that without the causation expert’s testimony, the plaintiff’s evidence did not establish a link between her SJS and the drug.
