Va. Federal Judge Stays Compounding Pharmacy Actions Pending JPML’s Ruling on Transfer Motion

ROANOKE, Va. — A Virginia federal judge has stayed two personal injury actions against New England Compounding Center and a radiology clinic pending the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation’s decision to transfer the cases to the NECC multidistrict litigation in Massachusetts.
On May 3, Senior Judge James C. Turk of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia ruled that a stay would best serve the interests of judicial economy because it “allows for all the NECC-related cases to be decided in a consistent manner by the MDL court and the JPML.”
