NEW YORK — A New York plaintiff who alleged defects in a Smith & Nephew R3 Constrained Acetabular hip liner has been given 60 days to amend product liability claims a federal judge found failed to offer any factual support for liability on the part of the manufacturer.

Judge J. Paul Oetken of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey issued the order April 24, dismissing without prejudice all causes of action brought by Jana Goldin against sole defendant Smith & Nephew Inc.

Goldin complained that she underwent a total right hip replacement in July 2009. …
