SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A New York federal judge has rejected a preemption defense raised by Wright Medical (NYSE: WMGI) in a ProFemur Hip System case, but did conclude that some claims brought by the plaintiff were meritless and others should be dismissed with leave to amend.

Senior Judge Frederick J. Scullin Jr. entered the order March 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York on Wright’s challenge to causes of action brought by plaintiff Joseph Henson.
