Parties in N.J. Mirena Cases ask State High Court to Reconsider Consolidation

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — Counsel for plaintiffs alleging injury caused by the intrauterine contraceptive device Mirena have asked the New Jersey Supreme Court to reconsider its earlier denial of Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals’ request for creation of a coordinated docket for the cases.

In the March 6 application, plaintiffs assert the cases involve "numerous claims with common, recurrent, and complex issues of law and fact" and all involve the same product manufactured by the same defendant. To date, Bayer has been served in more than 60 cases involving Mirena, a majority of which which have been filed in the Morris County (N.J.) …
