MIAMI — A Florida federal judge has granted Bayer Corp. summary judgment in a Trasylol case after excluding the plaintiff’s causation expert, ruling that medical causation was not established.
On March 13, Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida found the expert failed to consider all of the decedent’s medical records and history in applying his differential diagnosis.
Vernesta Huff received Trasylol during an August 2006 mitral valve replacement surgery. On March 9, 2007, she was admitted to the hospital with respiratory distress, pulmonary edema and hypotension; she died six days later. …
