Federal Court Narrows Wright Medical Hip Claims to Negligence in Pre-Trial Order

OAKLAND, Calif. — A federal judge has dismissed strict liability causes of action and negligent failure-to-warn claims from a Wright Medical Technology Inc. (NYSE: WMGI) hip implant case scheduled for trial April 1.

Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers granted in part Wright’s motion for summary judgment March 19, leaving only Gregory K. Tucker’s claim of negligent design defect and his wife’s claim for loss of consortium for trial.

Judge Rogers granted Wright’s motion for judgment on Tucker’s claim for strict liability abased on design defect, manufacturing defect and failure to warn, and dismissed a claim for negligent failure to warn, as …
