California Jurors Award $8.34 Million to Plaintiff in 1st DePuy Hip Implant Trial

LOS ANGELES — Jurors in the first DePuy (NYSE: JNJ) ASR hip implant trial have awarded plaintiff Loren Kransky $338,236.12 in economic and $8 million in non-economic damages, but declined to assess punitive damages against defendants.

The verdict on claims by Montana resident Loren Kransky was announced March 8, on the fifth day of deliberations, ending a trial that began Jan. 22 in Los Angeles Superior Court before Judge Stephen J. Czuleger.

Jurors found for Kransky on damages for medical costs and on invisible injuries and emotional suffering and distress. However, jurors answered ‘no’ when asked if Kransky suffered injury …
