MDL Judge Allows Expert Testimony on Alleged "Bursts" in NuvaRing’s Estrogen Delivery

ST. LOUIS - The federal judge overseeing the NuvaRing multidistrict litigation has allowed plaintiffs’ experts to testify on alleged “bursts” or “high variability” in the Organon contraceptive device’s estrogen delivery, finding such testimony is relevant.
On March 5, Judge Rodney W. Sippel of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri further found the experts are qualified to evaluate and rely upon pharmacokinetic studies and reports when reaching their conclusions.
NuvaRing, made by Organon, is a combined hormonal contraceptive that releases hormones over the course of treatment. CHCs contain an estrogen, typically ethinyl estradiol, and a progestin. Plaintiffs …
