$7.76 Million in Punitive Damages Awarded to Plaintiff in First Pelvic Mesh Trial

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A New Jersey state court jury has hit Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) and its subsidiary, Ethicon Inc., with $7.76 million in punitive damages in the first pelvic mesh case to go to trial, according to lawyers for plaintiff Linda Gross.
The Feb. 28 award comes on the heels of the jury’s partial plaintiff’s verdict of $3.35 million in compensatory damages.
