Summary Judgment for DePuy After Knee Implant Plaintiff Rejects Settlement

LOS ANGELES — A federal judge has granted DePuy Orthopaedics Inc.’s (NYSE: JNJ) motion for summary judgment on product liability claims by a knee implant recipient who pursued the case on her own after rejecting the terms of an earlier settlement and dismissing counsel.

Judge Margaret M. Morrow of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California ruled Jan. 28 that plaintiff Wendy Kamerik had failed to disclose witnesses or offer any supporting expert testimony even after the court granted continuances to allow her additional time.
