Plaintiffs in Cook Medical Pelvic Repair Product Cases Seek Creation of Federal MDL

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Plaintiffs have petitioned the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to create a centralized docket for all federal lawsuits alleging injury caused by Cook Medical Inc. women’s pelvic repair products.
The Feb. 18 petition urges the JPML to consolidate five pending federal lawsuits, as well as any future Cook pelvic claims, before a single U.S. District Judge in the Southern District of West Virginia for coordinated and/or consolidated pretrial proceedings.
Plaintiffs in each action allege Cook defectively designed and manufactured the devices, which are implanted in women for the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse and/or incontinence. Cook …
