Ariz. Woman Says Prozac Caused Her Son’s Birth Defect

PHOENIX - An Arizona woman has accused Eli Lilly & Co. (NYSE: LLY) of failing to warn consumers that ingestion of its antidepressant Prozac while pregnant can cause congenital heart defects in infants.
The Jan. 28 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona says Lilly knows of this risk but refused to include it on the drug’s warning label and continues to hide this information from doctors and patients.
According to the suit, Denise Dittell was prescribed Prozac in February 1995 and took the drug for depression until she discovered she was pregnant in December …
