Ohio Woman Says Januvia, Byetta Caused Father’s Pancreatic Cancer

SAN DIEGO — The surviving daughter of an Ohio man who died from pancreatic cancer has filed a lawsuit in California alleging that her father’s death was caused by the type 2 diabetes drugs Januvia and Byetta.
In a complaint filed Jan. 11 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District, plaintiff Robin Raesky of Lima, Ohio, alleges that the drugs’ manufacturers, Merck & Co. Inc. and Amylin Pharmaceuticals, over-promoted the drugs while downplaying their association with pancreatic cancer, which Raesky’s father was diagnosed with in 2011.
According to the lawsuit, Delphia Swaney was prescribed Amylin’s Byetta in January 2007 …
