Ohio Couple Alleges Defects in Stryker Duracon Knee Implant

AKRON, Ohio — An Ohio couple has filed a lawsuit against Stryker Corp. (NYSE: SYK), alleging that a Duracon knee replacement implanted in the husband in 2004 failed and caused permanent physical injuries.

Danny E. and Margaret M. Mason filed the action Oct. 16 in the Court of Common Pleas in Summit County, Ohio, naming Stryker, Howmedica Osteonics Corp. (d/b/a Stryker Orthopaedics) and unnamed “Does.” Stryker removed the action to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio Nov. 20, asserting complete diversity between the parties. The case has been assigned to Judge Sara E. Lioi.
