Metabolife Class Action Filed in Wake of Ephedra Investigation

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-An Alabama man filed a statewide class action against Metabolife International, Inc., claiming that the dietary supplement maker failed to provide adequate warnings about potential adverse events and failed to conduct sufficient pre-clinical testing. Langston, et al., v. Metabolife International, Inc., et al., No. N/A (Cir. Ct. Jefferson Co. Ala.).
The putative class will consist of Alabama residents who have died suffered a personal injury as a result of ingesting Metabolife 356. Larry R. Langston, Jr., claims he suffered a heart attack on August 18, 2000, after taking the dietary supplement.
