photo-1 The American Pain Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to serving people suffering from pain by providing information and promoting pain research, reports that over 50 million Americans suffer from chronic pain and an additional 25 million suffer from moderate to severe pain as the result of cancer or accident. The most common prescription pain relievers used to treat these types of pain are synthetic opioid anlagesics such as Oxycontin, Percocet and Tylox.
