Plaintiff Seeks Class Status for Mass. Recipients of Stryker Trident Hip Systems

BOSTON — A Massachusetts recipient of an allegedly defective Stryker (NYSE: SYK) Trident hip implant system has filed a class action in federal court, contending that the system’s manufacturers violated the Food Drug and Cosmetics Act in placing a faulty product on the market.
Raymond Chasse Jr. filed the lawsuit Sept. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts on behalf of Massachusetts residents who have experienced failures in Trident Hemispherical Acetabular Shells since 2003.
Chasse estimates that the class will comprise 40 plaintiffs, who can be identified through defendants’ records.
