SALT LAKE CITY — A federal jury has awarded $5.1 million in compensatory damages to a Utah woman after finding that Wyeth LLC negligently failed to warn her that its hormone replacement drugs Premarin, Provera and/or Prempro caused her to develop breast cancer. (NSE: WYETH)

The 12-member jury reached their verdict at the conclusion of a four-week trial, overseen by Judge Dale A. Kimball of the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah. The jury found that plaintiff Toshiko Okuda “has proven by a preponderance of the evidence” that the drugs caused her breast cancer.
