Texas Federal Judge Finds California A Better Forum for Stryker Hip Case

HOUSTON — A Texas federal judge has accepted a magistrate’s recommendation to transfer a Stryker (NYSE: SYK) hip implant case to California where the plaintiff’s surgeries occurred and where the potential witnesses are likely to reside.
Judge Melinda Harmon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas said in her Aug. 14 order that despite objections by plaintiff Constance Sewing, who herself resides in California, “the Northern District of California is patently the more convenient forum . . . .”
