NexGen MDL Court Allows Zimmer Limited Contacts With Treating Physicians

CHICAGO — U.S. District Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer has ruled that Zimmer Inc. (NYSE: ZMH) can engage in discussions with a limited number of physicians who have treated plaintiffs in the NexGen knee implant MDL, but are barred from soliciting or receiving information about any patients who may be plaintiffs.

The judge’s Aug. 16 order came on a motion by Zimmer to allow such contacts, which plaintiffs’ counsel opposed.

Judge Pallmeyer incorporated into her order Zimmer’s self-imposed limit of 25 physicians who have treated plaintiffs in the NexGen MDL.
