DePuy Moves to Sever Claims by 3 Maryland Hip Implant Plaintiffs

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. and affiliate defendants have moved for separate trials for three Maryland plaintiffs whose allegations of defects in DePuy ASR hip implants are scheduled to be tried in January.
DePuy and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) filed their motion Aug. 27, asking the Maryland state court to sever or schedule separate trials for Moira Jackson and two co-plaintiffs. The motion was filed under seal.
Defendants also asked Prince George’s County Circuit Judge Crystal Dixon Mittelstaedt for a hearing on the motion.
