Mo. Court Stays Knee Implant Case Pending Ruling on Scope of NexGen MDL

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A federal judge has granted a stay sought by both parties to a Zimmer knee implant case, pending a decision by the presiding judge in the NexGen Knee Implant MDL on whether to admit cases to the coordinated proceedings involving non-“Flex” or standard NexGen LPS femoral components.
The order staying the case came three weeks after the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation granted an unopposed motion by Zimmer Inc. to vacate a conditional transfer to MDL 2272, which has been assigned to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
