Bayer Seeks Centralization of N.J. Mirena Cases

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — The maker of the intrauterine contraceptive device Mirena is seeking centralization of all New Jersey cases in which it has been named as a defendant, asserting that it would help conserve judicial resources and avoid the risks of duplicative discovery and inconsistent rulings.
In an Aug. 9 letter to Acting Administrative Judge Glenn A. Grant, Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals Inc. seeks consolidation in the Middlesex County (N.J.) Superior Court. The cases are currently pending in the Morris County Superior Court. Bayer’s offices are located in Morris County.
