DETROIT — A lawyer who was required to undergo revision surgery to correct premature liner wear and loosening of an acetabular cup implanted in her hip has sued device component manufacturer Smith & Nephew. Orr v. Smith & Nephew Inc., No. 12-13397 (E.D. Mich.).
Claudia Orr alleges in an Aug. 2 lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan that Smith & Nephew failed to incorporate state of the art material in its Reflection Microstable Acetabular Cup Liner, despite evidence that it reduced the incidence of revision surgeries.
