Zimmer Seeks Consolidation of N.J. NexGen Knee Implant Cases

TRENTON - The New Jersey Supreme Court is soliciting comment on an application by Zimmer Holdings Inc. to centralize case management of the state's NexGen knee implant cases in Middlesex County (N.J.) Superior Court.

Zimmer made the request in mid-December in a letter to Acting Administrative Judge Glenn A. Grant. The application was posted on the court's website on Jan. 5, along with the Notice to the Bar.

Zimmer has not asked that the NexGen litigation be designated as a mass tort, but argues that "the centralization of these cases is necessary to avoid duplicative discovery and inconsistent rulings, and …
