Defendants Answer Complaints in Calif. DePuy ASR Personal Injury Cases

SAN FRANCISCO - Defendants in California's coordinated DePuy ASR hip implant cases filed short-form answers in December to dozens of cases pending in the San Francisco Superior Court, generally denying allegations made by individual plaintiffs. In re DePuy ASR Hip System Cases, No. CJC-10-004649 (Calif. Super. Ct., San Francisco).

Answers were filed beginning on Dec. 14 by DePuy Orthopaedics and parent company Johnson & Johnson, Thomas Vail, M.D., and Thomas Vail Consulting, and Thomas P. Schmalzried, M.D.
