Federal Judge Cites Judicial Economy in Granting Stay Pending Transfer

OAKLAND, Calif. - A federal judge cited a need to avoid inconsistent decisions in declining to rule on a motion to remand a DePuy Pinnacle hip case and staying proceedings pending transfer to the federal multidistrict litigation pending in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Blalock, et al. v. DePuy Orthopaedics Inc., No. C 11-04746 (N.D. Calif.).

Judge Saundra B. Armstrong of the Northern District of California granted the stay sought by DePuy Orthopaedics on Dec. 14, noting that judges considering similar motions by California plaintiffs have issued similar rulings.
