Preliminary Injunction Filed to Stop Ads Claiming Paxil
Has No Severe Side Effects and Is Non-Habit Forming

LOS ANGELES-Attorneys representing individuals involved in a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer of Paxil filed a preliminary injunction for the removal of television advertisements and promotional materials that state the antidepressant has minor side effects and does not cause dependency.

The July 2 cease and desist order was sought on behalf of members of the Paxil class action litigation and individuals who have not taken Paxil that may be influenced by the advertisements. The action is supported by British psychopharmocologist Dr. David Healy, Harvard psychiatrist Dr. Joseph Glenmullen and Los Angeles area clinician Stuart Shipko.
