NexGen MDL Judge Bars Direct Filing of Cases, Resolves Other CMO Disputes

CHICAGO - U.S. District Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer has prohibited direct filing of NexGen Knee Implant cases in the MDL assigned to the Northern District of Illinois, agreeing with defendants that plaintiffs should continue to file in their home districts and follow the transfer mechanism already in place. In re: Zimmer NexGen Knee Implant Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2272 [No. 1:11-cv-05468] (N.D. Ill.).

Judge Pallmeyer's Oct. 19 order resolved those and other unresolved issues from the Oct. 7 hearing on Case Management Order No. 1 in the coordinated NexGen proceedings.
