Abbott Accused of Failing to Warn of Humira-Related Infections

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Tennessee man has sued Abbott Laboratories in federal court, alleging that its arthritis drug Humira caused him to contract a life-threatening fungal infection. Delano v. Abbott Laboratories, No. 11-2475 (W.D. Tenn.).

The June 12 complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, says Abbott failed to warn that Humira places patients at risk for histoplasmosis and other "opportunistic infections" by depressing the immune system.
