Daubert Rulings Issued in Children's Motrin Case

PHILADELPHIA - A Pennsylvania federal judge has made several Daubert rulings in a case in which a plaintiff alleges that over-the-counter Children's Motrin caused her to develop Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. Wolfe v. McNeil-PPC Inc., et al., No. 07-348 (E.D. Pa.).

On May Judge Jan E. DuBois of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania addressed nine Daubert motions, three by the plaintiff and six by the defendant drug makers, to exclude or limit the proposed testimony of 11 proposed expert witnesses.

In May 1996, Kiley Wolfe developed a virus and was prescribed over-the-counter Children's Motrin by her pediatrician. …
