Father's Ingestion of Accutane Caused Son's Bowel Disease, Suit Says

LAREDO, Texas - A suit brought against Hoffman-La Roche Inc. in Texas alleges that a father's ingestion of the acne drug Accutane in the mid-1980s caused his son to contract inflammatory bowel disease. Ramirez v. Hoffman-La Roche Inc., et al., No. 11-44 (S.D. Tex.).

Roche removed the suit to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on April 19. The complaint, originally filed in the Jim Hogg County (Texas) District Court, says Juan M. Ramirez's father's ingestion of Accutane years before Ramirez's 1992 birth caused Ramirez to develop Crohn's Disease.
