NJ Jury Awards $2 Million in Accutane Case, Finds for Defendant in Two Others

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - A New Jersey state court jury has awarded $2 million in compensatory damages to a woman who claims Accutane caused her inflammatory bowel disease. Greenblatt v. Hoffmann-La Roche Inc., No. ATL-l- 1246-06 (N.J. Super. Ct., Atlantic Cty.).
On April 4, the Atlantic County (N.J.) Superior Court jury found that Roche AG failed to adequately warn plaintiff Gillian Gaghan of the risk of IBD posed by the acne drug. Gaghan, a 34-year-old nursing assistant, was prescribed Accutane when she was 22.
