Merck Asks JPML to Consolidate, Transfer Fosamax Bone Injury Cases

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The manufacturer of Fosamax has asked the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to transfer 36 actions alleging femur fractures and other bone injuries to New Jersey federal court for coordinated pretrial proceedings. In re Alendronate Sodium Product Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2443 (JPML).

In a March 23 motion, Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp. asked the JPML to transfer the actions to Judge Garrett Brown of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey or, alternatively, to Judge Rebecca Doherty of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.
