CLEVELAND - An Ohio woman is accusing DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. and its parent company, Johnson & Johnson Services Inc., of failing to adequately test their ASR XL Acetabular Hip Replacement System and of concealing side effects and risks associated with the device. Abbott v. DePuy Orthopaedics Inc., et al., No. 11-20159 (N.D. Ohio).

The Feb. 4 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, says the defendants falsely stated to the Food and Drug Administration that the device was "substantially equivalent" to previously approved products.
