CHICAGO - A nationwide class action has been filed against the manufacturer of the antidepressant Serzone after blood test results for two plaintiffs bringing the suit yielded elevated liver enzymes. Galyean, et al v. Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Inc., No. 02cv2748 (N.D. Ill.)
The complaint, filed April 16 in the U.S. District Court for Eastern District of Illinois, calls for the removal and recall of Serzone, compensation for death and personal injury resulting from ingestion, reimbursement of money spent on the drug and for consumers to be alerted of the increased risk of hepatic events associated with Serzone.
