Florida Woman Alleges Injury from Mentor Transobturator Sling

TAMPA, Fla. - In a new complaint filed in Florida federal court, a woman claims that she sustained permanent injuries caused by a defective transobturator sling manufactured by Mentor Corp. Jacobs, et ux., v. Mentor Corp., No. 10-02429 (M.D. Fla.).

The Oct. 29 suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, says the medical device is unreasonably dangerous and came with insufficient warnings.

Denise Jacobs and her husband, John, allege that Jacobs was injured by Mentor's transobturator sling, an implantable, suburethral device approved for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence. The device is part of …
