Special Master Appointed in Baycol MDL to Oversee Collection of Medical Records

PHILADELPHIA - According to Pretrial Order No. 11 in the Baycol MDL, Professor Roger Haydock had been appointed Special Master to ensure that Bayer Corporation does not obtain access to medical information without prior court approval. In Re: Baycol Products Litigation, MDL No. 1431 (D. Minn., Jan. 16, 2002).

In the order, the court also requested the Drug Safety Department of Bayer to modify the forms of letter and release to more clearly reflect that only information pertinent to the adverse drug experience reported by the consumer is being sought.
